Raleigh Brewing wanted to capitalize on the seltzer-drinking trend and launched a low calorie beer alternative. This seltzer is unique in that it partners with the Mountains to Sea Trail—a North Carolina hiking trail that spans 1175 miles across the state. The goal is to provide a great tasting product while simultaneously encouraging people to explore the outdoors of North Carolina from end to end.
TASK /
Visually, how can we brand The Mountains to Sea Series Seltzers and have them look different than the Raleigh Brewing flagship beers, yet still be familiar?
RESULTS /
The logo came about quickly as we visually wanted the phrase itself to show hills and waves in it—the literal landscape of NC. “Mountains” was drawn with tall, misaligned letterforms while “Sea” is very rounded and flowy. This mark is used over a background of colorful, blended lines which bounce from sharp edge shapes at the top to curvy wave shapes at the bottom. The Mountains to Sea look was defined, keeping the cans clean and white only using color gradients in the bars to match the flavor. Custom fruit was illustrated for each flavor.
