The Glass Jug Beer Lab is a bottle shop and micro brewery producing delicious, small-batch beers only found there and at the best craft beer bottle shops, bars, and restaurants in North Carolina. The Beer Lab operates much like a working laboratory at the intersection of art and science, allowing them to create experimental beers using new, unique, and/or interesting ingredients to craft exciting flavors in each beer.
The Glass Jug (as it was known prior to the rebrand), was transitioning from a bar and bottle shop to a full-fledged brewery (with a bar and bottle shop) where they could serve their own beers among others. They needed a new name and look to encompass this change. Taking some direction as a nod to all of the fantastic scientists in the Research Triangle Park area, The Glass Jug transformed into The Glass Jug Beer lab.
Gusto Design Co. was involved from the beginning to help redesign their logo and brand identity. This quickly escalated into a unique design system was for their beer labels. Since they vary the recipes based on styles of beer, labels needed to be editable for each new batch. Transparency (a West-Coast IPA), Opacity (an East-Coast IPA), Deviation (a Stout), and Pi (Gose and sour beers) all have different names based on ingredients or the time of the year they come out.
Expanding the business meant the Glass Jug Beer Lab needed a larger space to house the brewery equipment. They were lucky to just move over a few bays in the same complex to gain much needed square footage, both indoor and an outdoor for a large beer garden. This space has become a favorite place for many beer aficionados. With TGJBL becoming a Durham destination for amazing limited edition beers and neighborhood camaraderie, they continue to grow and are quickly becoming thought leaders in the ever-growing NC brewery space. Like fine wine or aged stouts, we can only imagine them getting better with time.
A tasty rebrand for a Durham, NC brewery and bottle shop.
